HTC One M8 Google Play edition reportedly launching in India

Multiple outlets reporting HTC outed first international Google Play edition launch at event in India

Until now Google Play edition devices have been exclusive to the U.S., but that could be about to change. Multiple Indian media outlets are reporting that the HTC One M8 Google Play edition has been announced for sale there. HTC India has been hosting a media event to officially launch the regular M8 there, but the bigger news is this potential international expansion of the Google Play edition line.

Pricing is reported at Rs 49,900, which is also the exact same local price as the HTC Sense 6 filled M8. It's said to be going up for pre-order later today through the Google Play Store though at present this doesn't seem to be the case. Shipping is reported for the first week in May. At this point, Google's official device support page still lists only the United States as supported countries for Google Play edition devices.

We've reached out for confirmation, and will report back if we hear more. There is no clue as yet if anywhere else may be about to get involved, but it's looking positive for Indian Android fans.
