Motorola moving into Canada's technology triangle

Motorola has announced that they will be opening a new office inKitchener-Waterloo, Ontario the home of BlackBerry. The site is a known hotbed of engineering, and other companies like Square, Intel and Electronic Arts also have a presence in Canada's Technology Triangle.

Motorola looks to open a new engineering office and tap into the area's pool of talent, which has been bolsteredby the massive layoffs going on at BlackBerry. Motorola says they have been planning this move for a while, but for the folks with skills and no office to use them in, the timing couldn't be better.

Google already has a small office in Waterloo, and the current MotorolaKitchener-Waterloo office only employs a "handful" of people. They expect to soon begin hiring, and hopefully some great things can be done at the new facility.
