When we first showed you the HTC One Max Power Flip Case this is the one with the 1,200 mAh battery tucked into the cover we did so with a caveat. It wasn't final hardware, and the ability to use the case to prop up the large phone like a stand would be added.
We now have that updated version of this $90 accessory, submitted for your approval.
It's pretty obvious from what we now hold in our hands that HTCwasn't going to do a total redesign on this case. And to that end, the solution is pretty creative. In the picture above, you see the pre-production case on the left, and the new one on the right. The strip you see under the speaker cutout is a clear silicone-like substance. There's one next to the bottom speaker hole as well. So you tilt the phone into the proper position, and the rubber provides enough friction to keep it upright.
And it works ... OK. If the phone's at too low an angle, it'll slip down. (This, again, leads us to believe this is really just a "good enough" fix.) It's not clear how the rubber will hold up over time, either, whether with dirt or just normal wear and tear.
Still no word yet on when and where you'll be able to pick this up, but HTC has added it to its accessories section.
