LG V400 and V700 tablets appear at FCC, likely updated G Pad models

LG got back into the Android tablet game in 2013 with the G Pad 8.3, a generally well-received aluminum-backed slate that eventually morphed into a Google Play edition device. Now we're seeing hints of future G Pads on the way, as tablets dubbed LG-V400 and V700 have passed by the FCC.

The LG-V400 looks similar to the existing G Pad, with branding and regulatory info in portrait orientation on its back panel. The FCC renders also reveal a pair of rear speakers, headphone jack, and what appear to be power and volume rockers. It's unclear whether this is a direct successor to the current 8.3-inch G Pad (LG-V500), but with that device being heavily discounted in some countries, it's certainly a possibility.

Meanwhile the V700 could be LG's first large form factor tablet since the ill-fated G Slate, a quirky 3D tablet that ran Android 3.0 Honeycomb back in 2011. Though it's difficult to discern its exact size from the FCC images, the landscape orientation and rear stereo speakers point to something closer to a 10-inch screen size.

We'll probably have to wait a little longer to learn more about these new LG slates, but it sure looks like the Korean company is planning an Android tablet expansion in 2014.
